The West Virginia Certification Board for Addiction and Prevention Professionals (WVCBAPP) is a voluntary board whose purpose is to certify the qualifications and competence of the persons who are engaged in professional addictions services, be it treatment or prevention. The WVCBAPP is a member of the International Certification Reciprocity Consortium / Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (ICRC/AODA), and as such, adheres to ICRC/AODA requirements for certification of addiction counselors, prevention specialists, and clinical supervisors.

 

 
  • The next test date will be September 13, 2008. Applications need to be post marked no later than July 13, 2008. Once the Certification committee has reviewed your application, you will be notified of the exact time and place of the test.
  • The Case Present Method (CPM) will be July 18, 2008. If you are a candidate for the CPM, you should have been notified by phone. The time and place are yet to be determined. Please check back for any updates.
  • Recertificatin Applications were mailed out the last week of May, 2008. If you are due to recertify and did not receive your application, you may either call the office (304-768-2942) to request an application or under the resources tab print off the recertification application. There is a PDF fill-in recertification application if you prefer.
  • The WVCBAPP administers CIS, CAC, CCAC, CCJP testing according to ICRC/AODA policy.
    Those dates are in March, June, September and December - IF there are at least 7 applicants. All applications need to be postmarked 60 days prior to the test date. Any application received after that 60 day period will be held and reviewed for a later test time. Applications can be found on the Resources page of this website. The manual gives detailed instructions on completing the application. The application can be filled-in on-line then printed and mailed to the WVCBAPP office.

    **NEW RECERTIFICATION LATE FEE POLICY** All recertification applications must be postmarked by August 31st of the recertification year. Any recertification application postmarked September 1 - December 1 incurrs a $75 late fee and the credential is considered to be "inactive" and may not be used until re-certification is obtained. After December 2, your certification will be null and void and the individual will have to re-apply, complete all certification paperwork and take all tests in order to be re-credentialed
