MARCH 14, 2009. The next test date will be June 13, 2009. If you were eligible
to test in March and received a registration form, you will receive another
registration form for the June test.***

Applications must be received 60 days prior to a test date.
- All certifications will not expire until 9/30 of the year you are to recertify.
The board has revised the policy. Certifications expire 9/30 but recertification applications are to be post marked by August 30th.
That month is used to review and notify members of the status of their certification. Any recertification application post marked after
August 30th will incur a $75 late fee. Any application that is not received by 9/30 will be considered inactive. The individual can regain
his/her credential up to 90 days past the expiration date by completing the re-certification process and paying all late fees ($75.) After the
90 day period, your certification will be null and void and the individual will have to re-apply, complete all certification paperwork and
take all tests in order to be re-credentialed. New stickers will be mailed to all members with the new 9/30 expiration date.
- Elimination of the CPM (Oral Exam) -- In April 2007, the IC&RC Board of Directors
voted to eliminate the use of the Case Presentation Method (CPM). The CPM was an
oral exam and a component of the Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Counselor (AODA)
and Advanced Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Counselor (AAODA) Certifications.
Effective June 2008 the AODA and AAODA written examinations will reflect updates
to include the competencies that the oral exam tested. The AODA exam will
incorporate a case study vignette with thirteen questions pertaining to the
case. The AAODA exam will incorporate several scenarios. The AODA exam will
still consist of 150 questions, and the AAODA will still consist of 175
questions. Both exams remain 3 ½ hours long. West Virginia Certification Board

- Phasing out of the CPM (Oral Exam) --
Those who currently hold a CIS and wish to upgrade to CAC or CCAC and tested in
2005 or prior must meet all the current requirements for the CAC or CCAC and
take the new written exam. Those who tested in 2006 have until 2008 to take the
oral exam or take the new written exam, those who tested in December 2007 have
until 2009 to take the oral exam or the new written exam. After 2009 if a CIS
